Nielsen China Supports Guizhou Forerunner College
Helping Talented but Underprivileged Students Gain Marketable Career Skill

Nielsen, a leading global provider of insights and analytics into what consumers watch and buy, announced it donated computers and other school facilities, valued around 3million RMB to Guizhou Forerunner College, under its Nielsen Cares program.

Yan Xuan, president of Nielsen Greater China, attended the opening ceremony at Guizhou Forerunner College and presented Nielsen’s donation. Government officials, including Lin Wenyi,Vice-Chairwoman of the CPPCC and Chairwoman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League and Wang Fuyu,Vice Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, also attended.

“China is a critically important market for Nielsen,” said Mr. Yan, “Not only are we deeply committed to this market, but we are also committed to responsible behavior and a positive impact in our communities. In China, we focus on education, especially supporting schools in the least developed provinces or migrant schools.”

Nielsen also announced its offer of ten internships to the students from Guizhou Forerunner College as part of the company’s ongoing support to bring global company exposure and experience to the students in Guizhou.

In the last two years, Nielsen China has reached more than 600 underprivileged or migrant students by Nielsen China volunteers through teaching or improving their education environment by building a library and school playground and donating computers and multimedia software.

Guizhou Forerunner College, the first non-profit college in China, is sponsored by VIA Faith-Hope-Love Non-Profit Foundation and is aimed at promoting education equality in western regions of China, leading in the innovation of new teaching styles and classroom experiences, establishing a world-class college for its visually impaired student body and helping poor students gain marketable skills and find post-graduation employment. Through collaboration with leading enterprises, the college will provide three years of low- to no-cost higher education for students in vocational fields. It will recruit up to 800 students each year mainly from Guizhou Province, as well as from other economically underdeveloped western provinces of China.
