The Nielsen Company today announced the appointment of Jed Meyer to the position of Managing Director, Media Services, Greater China. Based in Shanghai, Meyer will oversee the Company’s media businesses across China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, reporting jointly to Mitch Barns, President, The Nielsen Company, Greater China, and Richard Basil-Jones, Managing Director, Media, Asia Pacific, The Nielsen Company.
Meyer moves to China from Nielsen USA where has a wealth of experience working with both traditional media and new media business. “Chinese consumers are increasingly taking up new media, and there is no doubt China’s online audience, including those viewing video online, will continue to grow. Jed’s appointment - along with the international research and development centre we are developing in China - reinforce Nielsen’s strong commitment to the China market. We are committed to expanding our existing capabilities while also investing in the development of new services to measure the nation’s growing use of both traditional and new digital media to help our clients run their business more effectively,” said Mitch Barns, President, The Nielsen Company Greater China.
Meyer joined Nielsen in 1992, and over the last 16+ years has worked in progressive management roles in Nielsen USA’s Local Television Client Service, where he led the Local Cable TV group, then Nielsen Online, where he helped to develop Nielsen’s SiteCensus measurement platform. More recently, Meyer was Senior VP of DigitalPlus for Nielsen USA where he led the Company’s efforts to develop new client applications for digital set top box (STB) data by combining STB information with other data to define standards for digital commerce.
